Atlantic Gasket Increases Slitting Capabilities

Atlantic Gasket has spent decades slitting and stripping a wide array of materials to our customer’s needs from ¼” to 60” wide, but now, we’ve added a new slitting machine to our fleet which further increases our capacity for orders requiring slitting of any kind.  We’re always looking into how we can make our manufacturing process more efficient, and this addition is just the latest in that search.  Our new single-knife slitter, from Lever, allows us to cut larger roll diameters and perform a cleaner cut.  The ability for us to continue to provide exceptional non-metallic roll goods just got better!

This new slitting machine allows us to continue cutting the same materials that we have been cutting for years to a much higher capacity, such as rubber, sponge, foam, adhesives/tapes, plastics/films, cork, and more.  Our slitting capabilities were already versatile and of high-quality, but our new machine just broadens the horizon and allows for more perfect cuts and the ability for quicker lead times to get stripping products into our valued customer’s hands.

You Need Holes? We’ve Got ‘Em!

Circle with Many Holes 8

We’ve cut several of these gaskets out of 1/8” thick 55 durometer Viton on our water jet machine.  What was the catch?  We had to put 242 holes and ovals into this 14 ¼” diameter piece.

However, it was no issue for our water jet machine and production line!  Our water jet machine can hold tight tolerances and cut a nearly infinite amount of different cutout dimensions and shapes.

Atlantic Gasket Continues to Produce Comfortable Face Shields in a Variety of Sizes

Face Shields
Since the start of our nation’s battle against the COVID-19 virus, Atlantic Gasket has been working to produce over a million face shields for our front-line workers! Now, as kids and teenagers prepare to return to the classroom, we’ve expanded our product line of face shields to adjust to a variety of sizes for the ever-growing child for their added comfort and safety.

People of all ages and sizes are susceptible to the coronavirus, unfortunately, and this has led us to want to continue our small part of fighting against it. Our face shields can now be produced in sizes that fit toddlers, grade school age kids, high school teenagers, and adults! This range of sizes allows for children of all ages to be properly protected across their entire face while allowing them to maneuver around the classroom and school as comfortably and safely as possible.

Of course, safety and comfort are our biggest concerns, but our face shields also provide a wide range of other benefits. The face shields are made from lightweight and durable plastic with soft foam cushioning on the forehead to provide a comfortable experience wearing them. They allow others to see your face and hear you better during conversation which is crucial in a school setting. Children are known to spread germs without a thought, and shields protect the entire face with coverage against outside liquids and contaminants. Finally, our face shield allows the wearer to eat and drink while their face remains protected.

If you are in charge of a school district or know somebody who is and is in need of face shields for the coming school year or in need of protection in any setting against COVID-19, please don’t hesitate to contact our sales team that would be more than happy to help protect your children, teenagers, and even adults in some cases!

Thank You to the Front Line

After months of dealing with the COVID-19 global pandemic across the country and world, it has become clear who the real heroes are: our front line workers.  The doctors, nurses, law enforcement officers, EMT’s, and other emergency and healthcare workers who have dealt with the deadly virus on a daily basis deserve a tremendous thank you and our full gratitude.  Day in and day out, they have met the challenge head-on of protecting others from becoming sick or helping them to recover.  These workers have jeopardized their own health, and we absolutely commend them for their service during these trying times over the past four months and counting.

Here at Atlantic Gasket, we’ve tried to do just a small part in helping the front line workers fight COVID-19.  We have worked tirelessly to supply face shield ‘kits’ that have featured an elastic band, foam forehead cushion, and plastic shield for easy assembly while also providing already-assembled full shields as well.  Our team has also provided components for other companies that are assembling face shields such as the plastic guard, foam cushion, and adhering adhesive to their materials.  In total, we have assembled, or helped assemble, well over a million masks!

In the end though, we’ve worked to just be a small part in a large-scale effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to assist as needed.  Our sincere thanks and gratitude again go out the front line workers who deal with the battle every single day.  Thank you!

Atlantic Gasket Becomes a 3M™ Associate Converter

Associate Color-Tranparent Background LogoWe here at Atlantic Gasket Corporation are extremely happy and excited to announce that we are now a 3M™ Associate Converter.  Our company already has an extensive product line, and we’re now adding 3M™ products to that list.  We have access to roughly 53,000 products from their line which can be converted into high-quality custom-cut parts and stripping for our customers.

Our title as a 3M™ Associate Converter allows us to expand on our great line of products.  For decades we’ve been known for providing quality custom-cut parts and stripping, and now we can provide 3M™ adhesives alone or converted into our products.  Atlantic Gasket can convert 3M™ adhesives slit to width or applied to materials and die-cut, kiss-cut, or water jet cut.

The list of materials that we supply and can have 3M™ adhesives applied to is virtually endless and include closed cell sponges, open cell sponges, foams, mechanical rubbers (such as Neoprene, EPDM, Silicone, Nitrile/Buna-N, Viton, etc,), corks, cork rubbers, felts, and plastics.  We’re proud of the first-rate products that we currently produce and are excited to continue that production as we expand our product line due to our partnership with 3M™.

Gaskets Under the Sea

We have experience with providing over-sized products like the one pictured.  This circular gasket’s use is in underwater mining equipment and is made from ¾” thick 60 durometer neoprene.  It has an inner diameter of 58” and outer diameter of 90” with 44 holes along the circumference of the ring!  If you have an over-sized project, or any size at all, give our sales team at Atlantic Gasket a call at 800-229-8881 or 215-533-6400.  You can also send us an email addressed to sales@atlanticgasket.com.

Circular Gasket with Holes

North Slope of Alaska

We recently received a request from a customer who needed a large diameter 60 durometer Nitrile gasket to be delivered to the North Slope of Alaska the next day.  The plane, full of emergency oil equipment was taking off for the job site at noon the next day and this gasket had to be on that plane.  We cut the part on our waterjet cutter and shipped it to the customer the same day so that it would arrive by 10:30 the next morning.  The package was delivered the next morning as promised and was placed on the customer’s chartered flight that was leaving at noon.  This was just another day at Atlantic Gasket.  When a customer has a requirement and needs parts fast, our first questions are “Tell us what you need” and “How quickly do you need them”.  We have most common rubber and gasketing materials in stock and in-house waterjet cutting capability that allows us to cut any shape part within minutes of receiving a CAD file.  Same day shipments and next day delivery is not an unusual request.  Please contact us and let us know how we can make your life a little easier.  We are always glad to help.

Customer Satisfaction!

20150717_095737Atlantic Gasket prides itself on providing superior service to our extensive customer base. A good example is a recent project for a new customer in need of quick turn-around.

The pictured gasket is made from 1/8” high temperature compressed gasket material, and has a complex shape with 12 cutouts, 53 holes, and a tight tolerance requirement.

Using a customer supplied CAD file, Atlantic had material in stock and furnished a prototype part within 24 hours, requiring no expensive tooling as we utilized our programmable high pressure waterjet cutter which can cut virtually any material to high tolerance.

Upon receiving sample approval, we rapidly cut 25 high quality parts, providing our customer every reason to look to Atlantic for their future gasket requirements!

Laboratory Gaskets

We recently received a request from a customer who required a chemically resistant gasket for a laboratory ventilation system and they presented us with a list of thirteen chemicals that this gasket would need to seal at temperatures up to 250 F.  Upon first review we thought that Viton (Fluoroelastomer) would be the ideal material.  However, in analyzing the list of chemicals we realized that Viton was not compatible with oxygenated ketones, one of Viton’s few weaknesses.  We then started to investigate using PTFE (Teflon) but quickly realized that the PTFE would not hold up against acetates at 250 F.

The next material that we investigated was flexible graphite.   We determined that graphite was the best material for this application and would perform well as a gasket in sealing our customer’s list of chemicals.  This material was readily available and we were able to ship parts the next day allowing our customer to meet his tight schedule.

We love being challenged, so please contact us with your design specifications and we will work to find a timely and economical solution.
