Atlantic Gasket Adds Additional AMS & MIL Spec Silicones & Fluorosilicones

Atlantic Gasket is adding additional silicone and fluorosilicone rubber products to its material portfolio! The silicone rubbers added to our website will meet requirements specified by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and meet various AMS (Aerospace Material Specification) specs. These include AMS 3301, AMS 3302, AMS 3303, AMS 3304, AMS 3304, AMS 3305, AMS 3195, AMS 3196, AMS 3315, AMS 3320, AMS 3345, AMS 3347, AMS 3348, and AMS 3349. The silicone rubbers have the ability to resist a range of ambient conditions such as weathering, petroleum-based lubricating oils, extreme temperatures, and more.

Additionally, Atlantic Gasket is also adding multiple fluorosilicone rubber products as well, and these rubbers meet the MIL-DTL-25988C specification for various types and grades. These include Type 1 and 2 along with Grade 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80. The MIL-DTL-25988C specification refers to a range of fluorosilicone products like o-rings, compression seals, molded parts, extruded shapes, sheets, and strips.

Furthermore, Atlantic Gasket has also added a few other products such as AG-3686 low outgas/low temperature silicone specializing in spacecraft applications, AG-613-55LT conductive silicone that meets ASTM E595 low outgassing requirements and withstands extremely low temperatures, and AG21431 premium grade Viton™ that meets the Viton™ GF specification. Just like all of our sponges, rubbers, plastics, and other materials, these added rubbers will be available in custom-cut parts, sheets, rolls, and a variety of thicknesses.

Atlantic Gasket has the ability to die-cut, waterjet-cut, and knife-cut any of these new products to your custom-cut need for parts. We also provide laminating and slitting services to apply adhesive to materials and parts along with cutting them to custom stripping sizes. Leading the Drive for Electric Vehicle Sealing & Protection

Atlantic Gasket is leading the charge into the future with parts for electrical vehicle (EV) charging stations, sensor enclosures, and battery boxes. EV production will continue to exponentially increase in the future, and we have the material and parts to help make that happen!

Our electrically-conductive silicones and fluorosilicones not only act as a seal and protect against environmental factors, but they also provide shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI). These RFI and EMI shielding rubbers have the ability to withstand temperatures of upward of over 400°F, higher than an EV battery operation temperature. They also have the ability to meet the MIL-G-83528/MIL-DTL-83528 specification, such as Type A, Type B, Type D, Type K, Type L, and Type M, in a wide variety of thicknesses (.010”, .020”, .032”, .062”, .125”, etc.).

The conductive fluorosilicones and silicones also have the ability to withstand fire and flame. Some of Atlantic Gasket’s shielding rubbers contain silicones that conform to UL-94 V0 which allows them to help contain fire if needed which is instrumental with EV vehicle operation.

Atlantic Gasket has the capability to provide raw sheets and rolls in various thicknesses of RFI/EMI shielding silicones and fluorosilicones. Our ability also includes the production of custom-cut parts and stripping of the conductive rubbers to our customer’s needs. As electric vehicle production continues so will our capacity to guide customers in providing conductive silicone and fluorosilicone parts and material for it.

Atlantic Gasket Increases Productivity in a Flash

Atlantic Gasket has done it again and added a new, state-of-the-art machine that will increase the capacity, production, and quality of our custom-cut parts! The Flashcut Flex will allow for a higher flow of parts to be produced on our production line leading to shorter lead times and increased productivity in general. Just last year, we added a new slitting machine, and custom-cutting is taking a turn in 2021. Overall, Atlantic Gasket continues to upgrade year after year!

The Flashcut Flex knife-cutter’s first benefit is its speed. Its blades slice right through any material that we cut, and no tooling is required to purchase; our customers can send over a file and have parts being cut within minutes. In addition to the speed, this new machine nests parts together like no other to allow for the best material yield possible. The combination of speed and optimization lead to lower costs for our customers!

Finally, the Flashcut Flex improves the already-fantastic quality and reliability of our production. Its table surface has an intense vacuum that holds the sheet and roll materials steadfast producing a very fine and accurate cut that can meet necessary tolerances. The knife-cutter will provide an overall greater reliability to our production line due to a brand-new machine with high-quality technology.

Atlantic Gasket Increases Slitting Capabilities

Atlantic Gasket has spent decades slitting and stripping a wide array of materials to our customer’s needs from ¼” to 60” wide, but now, we’ve added a new slitting machine to our fleet which further increases our capacity for orders requiring slitting of any kind. We’re always looking into how we can make our manufacturing process more efficient, and this addition is just the latest in that search. Our new single-knife slitter, from Lever, allows us to cut larger roll diameters and perform a cleaner cut. The ability for us to continue to provide exceptional non-metallic roll goods just got better!

This new slitting machine allows us to continue cutting the same materials that we have been cutting for years to a much higher capacity, such as rubber, sponge, foam, adhesives/tapes, plastics/films, cork, and more. Our slitting capabilities were already versatile and of high-quality, but our new machine just broadens the horizon and allows for more perfect cuts and the ability for quicker lead times to get stripping products into our valued customer’s hands.

You Need Holes? We’ve Got ‘Em!

We’ve cut several of these gaskets out of 1/8” thick 55 durometer Viton on our water jet machine. What was the catch? We had to put 242 holes and ovals into this 14 ¼” diameter piece.

However, it was no issue for our water jet machine and production line! Our water jet machine can hold tight tolerances and cut a nearly infinite amount of different cutout dimensions and shapes.

Atlantic Gasket Revamps Site with EMI/RFI Products

Atlantic Gasket continues to keep up with the growing demands of different markets, and this time, we’ve revamped our website with a new section for EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) shielding materials. These silicone and fluorosilicone rubbers are filled with a variety of metallic fillers to allow them to be electrically conductive and protect sensitive electronic equipment and other products. These fillers include Nickel-Aluminum, Nickel-Graphite, Silver-Aluminum, Silver-Copper, Silver-Glass, and Silver-Nickel.

EMI & RFI shielding gaskets are important in serving a range of industries, such as military, aerospace, automotive, medical, and more. Gaskets Under the Sea

We have experience with providing over-sized products like the one pictured. This circular gasket’s use is in underwater mining equipment and is made from ¾” thick 60 durometer neoprene. It has an inner diameter of 58” and outer diameter of 90” with 44 holes along the circumference of the ring! North Slope of Alaska

We recently received a request from a customer who needed a large diameter 60 durometer Nitrile gasket to be delivered to the North Slope of Alaska the next day. The plane, full of emergency oil equipment was taking off for the job site at noon the next day and this gasket had to be on that plane. We cut the part on our waterjet cutter and shipped it to the customer the same day so that it would arrive by 10:30 the next morning. The package was delivered the next morning as promised and was placed on the customer’s chartered flight that was leaving at noon. This was just another day at Atlantic Gasket. When a customer has a requirement and needs parts fast, our first questions are “Tell us what you need” and “How quickly do you need them”. We have most common rubber and gasketing materials in stock and in-house waterjet cutting capability that allows us to cut any shape part within minutes of receiving a CAD file.
