Typical Properties of Style AG-2166 Brown 70 Durometer Viton
The AG-2166 Viton product is a 70 durometer fluoroelastomer that is produced in a brown color and is also an outstanding gasket material. As a Viton product, AG-2166 provides resistance to a wide variety of environmental and chemical factors such as ozone, weathering, aliphatic/aromatic hydrocarbons, animal/vegetable oils, fuels, petroleum oils, and lubricants. This material provides a service temperature of -10°F to 400°F/500°F.
Like all fluoroelastomers, AG-2166 70 durometer brown Viton also offers resistance to extreme temperatures, resistance to mold/fungus, extremely low permeability, a great compression set, and serviceable electrical properties in low frequency, low voltage applications. This material is an excellent choice for challenging and durable sealing and gasket applications and is often used in the chemical industry, fluid power industry, automotive industry, and aerospace industry.
However, AG-2166 70 durometer brown Viton is not recommended for applications requiring contact with hot water & steam, chlorinated solvents, and acids. Fluoroelastomers are not recommended to service in alkyl phosphate esters, hot anhydrous, hydrofluoric or chlorosulphonic acids, ketones, certain amines, and low molecular weight esters and ethers. Our AG-21236 Viton product, however, provides resistance to acids, hot water, and steam. Also, we have a variety of Viton and fluoroelastomer products that do protect against chlorinated solvents: AG-21236 Viton, AG-21249 Viton, AG-21242 Viton, and AG-21339 Fluoroelastomer.
This 70 durometer brown Viton fluoroelastomer product is available in thicknesses of 1/32”, 1/16”, 1/8”, 3/16”, and ¼” in rolls of 36” or 48” width with a light fabric impression finish. Like our other rubber products, we can supply AG2166 70 durometer brown Viton as converted waterjet-cut and die-cut custom gaskets and also slit to the width of your exact requirements for stripping. With the latest computer-controlled technology, Atlantic Gasket is able to manufacture custom Viton rubber gaskets from as small as 1/16" diameter up to 51" diameter and any size/shape in between.

The Viton properties above were obtained on molded 0.080” thick ASTM samples, but they should not be used to set minimum requirements for Quality Control Specification.
RESTRICTIONS: Although Fluoroelastomers are an excellent gasket and sealing material and are resistant to many chemicals and oils, Fluoroelastomers are not recommended for applications that will be exposed to nitro hydrocarbons, low molecular weight esters (such as ethyl acetate), or ketones.
