Materials

Atlantic Gasket Corporation manufactures custom gaskets and other component parts, die-cut parts, molded parts, cabinet bumpers, adhesive backed tapes, and composition cork/cork rubber products from a variety of materials for leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) located across the nation. Each material has its own unique properties that make it suitable for particular applications.

At Atlantic Gasket, we believe in providing our customers with all the information possible to assist in determining the optimum material for their requirements. Below is a list to help with your understanding of some of the more widely used materials that are available today. Please contact Atlantic Gasket to consult with a representative and receive more detailed information.

Solid Rubber

Elastomer materials exhibit a wide range of properties achieved by variations in composition formulas. Proper product selection is critical in most applications.

Sponge & Foam

Sponge and foam exhibit different mechanical and physical properties. Each is available in several densities, as well as polymer variations and chemical compositions.

Plastics

Atlantic Gasket fabricates most major categories of plastic films and sheets, including polyester polycarbonate, vinyl, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, Teflon® and others. Applications include faceplates, insulators, lenses and shims.

Felt & Fabrics

Felt and fabrics, both SAE industrial wool felts and 100% polyesters and blends, maintain usage in many industrial applications as well as decorative pads and backing in consumer applications.

Vulcanized Fibers

Commercial grades of vulcanized fibers are strong, lightweight, tear-resistant materials suitable for a wide variety of electrical and mechanical applications.

Plant Fibers

Plant or vegetable fiber is a strong, flexible general-purpose material for applications up to 250°F.

Composition Cork / Cork Rubber

Composition cork is lightweight and stable exhibiting compressibility and moisture resistance, while cork rubber is cork bonded to polymeric rubbers and exhibits good oil, fuel, and heat resistance.

High Performance Gasket Materials

Our line of High Performance gasket materials are all solvent-free and 100% non-asbestos. This family consist of 24 gasket materials that are designed to be used as automotive gaskets for dirt bikes, snow mobiles, ATV’s, cars, trucks, boats and for almost any small engine.

Thermoseal Materials

A line of high temperature, high performance gaskets materials consisting of three product lines 1) compressed fiber 2) PTFE (Teflon) and 3) Flexible Graphite used to seal fuels, oils, acids and chemicals in extreme conditions.
