Composition Cork/Cork Rubber

From coaster, ruler, or trivet backing to bottle cap or drawer liners to self-adhesive-backed pads, bumpers, or spacers, and even an air control valve gasket seal, Atlantic Gasket Corporation manufactures a variety of products from composition cork/cork rubber material. Combining the compressibility and recovery characteristics of cork with the flexibility and shelf life of rubber, cork rubber is ideal for use in a wide range of industries, notably automotive, electrical equipment, gas, construction, industrial equipment, transport and railway industries. Our cork rubber material is available in an assortment of grades depending on the blend of natural cork and elastomer composition. Read on to discover what material options you have at your disposal at Atlantic Gasket Corporation for padding and protection or sealing and prevention applications.

Cork Rubber Material Grade Properties Applications
Cork/Nitrile Blend
(available in high, medium, and low compressibility)
Good oil resistance Recommended in automotive, fuel pump and meter applications.
Cork/Neoprene Blend
(available in high, medium, and low compressibility)
Good oil resistance
Excellent heat resistance
High tensile & tear resistance
Used in air or refrigeration compressors among other applications.
Cork/Synthetic Rubber Blend Good oil resistance
Good resistance to environmental deterioration
Used in natural gas meters and most automotive and sealing applications, including valve covers/gaskets, oil pans, and transmission pans.
Cork/Nitrile Sponge Blend Good oil resistance
Very soft material
Conforms well where flange irregularities and low load pressures are present.
Cork/Neoprene Sponge Blend Moderate oil resistance Used for oil sealing in low torque applications. Used for die ejection, and cushioning for furniture and insulation on windows and doors.
Cork/SBR Sponge Blend High compressibility Used for die ejection, noise reduction, matting, cushioning, fatigue, and compression mats under equipment and furniture.
Cork/Silicone Blend Moderate resistance to fluids Well suited where operation temperatures are extremely high or low.

Our composition cork material can be supplied in sheets or continuous rolls 36", 48", and 54" wide, or slit to any width from ½" to 54" to meet exact specifications. We have rolls stocked in .031", .062", .125", .187", and .250" thick with many other thicknesses available upon request. Depending on the grade, our cork rubber material is supplied in either 40” or 42” wide rolls and also in sheets 36" x 36" square. We can also supply cork rubber that meets many military and aerospace specifications including Mil-T-6841(AMS-T-6841) and Mil-C-6183 in both type 1 and 2. Please click here for pricing on Mil-T-6841 cork rubber tape. Atlantic Gasket’s die cutting services enable us to manufacture die-cut parts from both composition cork and cork rubber to your exact requirements. Parts can be supplied with or without an adhesive backing, making end production more efficient and cost effective. See composition cork/cork rubber, the specification sheets to the right, or contact a sales representative at Atlantic Gasket to learn more about these materials.
