Other Materials
In addition to solid rubber, foam, and sponge, Atlantic Gasket Corporation stocks a variety of other materials such as plastics, vulcanized fibers, cellulose fibers, plant fibers, felt and fabric, as well as composition cork and cork rubber. Based on the physical and mechanical properties of each material, our design engineers can help determine the one that will work best. Vulcanized Fiber / Fishpaper is a strong, lightweight, tear-resistant material suitable for a wide variety of electrical and mechanical applications. Vulcanized Fiber / Fishpaper is available in six different electrical insulation and specialty fiberboards, each manufactured in a multi-ply construction from unbleached Kraft pulp. VHR-115 is used in many coil, transformer, motor, electrical hardware, electronic and lighting fixture applications, Ragtex is used for transformer insulation, barrier insulation, appliances, electrical hardware, gaskets, and seals. Hitex is used in many coil, transformer, motor, electrical hardware and electronic applications. Kraft is used in transformers and capacitors and conforms to ASTM D1305 Type 4. E-FR is used in applications that require flame retardant properties and is UL 94V-0 approved. FRP is used in as a secondary insulation for fire-resistant applications, such as microwave ovens, appliances, televisions, copiers, smoke and fire alarms and computers and is UL 94V-0 approved. High Performance Gasket Materials
These materials provide long-term durability and stability in demanding gasketing applications. Typical formulations use organic and inorganic fibers, are bound by polymers, and reinforced to promote crush resistance, torque retention and sealability through a range of parameters, including high-temperature and high-pressure applications throughout the automotive, appliance, industrial maintenance and related fields. Plant Fibre works well in applications where temperatures can reach 250° F and it is an excellent gasket material for all oil, grease, water and gasoline flange connections. Plant Fibre is used in the many industrial, chemical, petroleum, petrochemical and automotive applications. Our Plant fibre meets the following specifications: HH-P-96G Type 1, MIL-G-12803A, MIL-G-12803B, MIL-G-12803C, ASTM D 1170, ASTM F 104, SAEJ90 and is also UL listed. SAE wool felts and commercial craft felt, as well as Fabric, 100% polyesters and blends, maintain usage in many industrial applications as well as decorative pads and backing in consumer applications. Colored felt shapes are often furnished with self-adhesive backing. Industrial and Commercial fabrics including plush pile synthetics with backing and a wide variety of non-woven materials are currently available at Atlantic Gasket.
Composition Cork / Cork Rubber
This material is lightweight and stable exhibiting compressibility and moisture resistance, while Cork Rubber is cork bonded to a variety of polymeric rubber elastomers and exhibits good oil, fuel, and heat resistance. Composition cork is popular for many consumer product applications and is often supplied with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. Cork rubber is used for sealing a friction application, particularly automotive, pump, and meter applications. Click here for material specifications and additional information on Composition Cork.
High Temperature gasket materials are designed for demanding applications. This line of high performance gasket materials includes Flexible Graphite, Expanded PTFE and compressed fibers that are used as gaskets to seal a broad range of chemicals, oils, fuels, acids and other solvents at both low and elevated temperatures.
