Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Chart

Atlantic Gasket utilizes a variety of adhesive types and configurations. The most common configurations are:

Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Chart, Single Coated Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Chart, Double Coated Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Chart, Tranfer Tape
1. Single Coated 2. Double Coated 3. Transfer Tape
  • Variety of materials coated with adhesive on one side

  • Ability to bond to only one substrate

  • Used to bond two substrates together

  • Adhesive coating on each side of a carrier

  • Can use different adhesives on each side of the carrier

  • Carrier adds strength to the adhesive configuration

  • Used to bond two substrates together

  • Provide conformability for irregular surfaces

In order to help you select the optimum adhesive, it is important that we know as much as possible about its proposed use. Specifically – What is the application and environment under which the adhesive must perform? Also – will the adhesive be functional after use? Will additional means of fastening the gasket or product be employed? (Mechanical retention, etc.)

The most common types of adhesives we employ are:

Adhesives Advantages Disadvantages
Rubber Based
  • Excellent tack and adhesion
  • Bonds well to most surfaces
  • Achieves ultimate adhesion quickly
  • Economically priced
  • Poor elevated temperature resistance
  • Fair chemical, U.V. and oxidation resistance
Acrylic Based
  • Good temperature resistance
  • Good chemical, U.V. and oxidation resistance
  • Re-positionable
  • Low initial bond strength, but builds over time
  • More expensive than rubber based

Other adhesives such as silicone, ultra high adhesion and heat activated may also be employed for specialized applications.
