Thermoseal Materials

We at Atlantic Gasket are pleased to offer our customers the full line of high performance, high temperature gasket materials manufactured by Thermoseal. Thermoseal’s origin dates back to 1894 when Richard Klinger was the first to discover the unique properties of compressed fiber and their abilities to seal against a broad range of chemicals, oils and acids. Over the next 120 plus years Thermoseal’s product line has evolved from compressed fibers to include PTFE (Teflon), Expanded PTFE (Teflon) and Flexible Graphite that comprise a range of Thermoseal products for use as gaskets and seals wherever chemicals, oils, acids, and other fluids need to be contained or moved.

Gaskets and Seals produced from Thermoseal’s gasket materials are an excellent choice for demanding applications in the following industries:

Industries Applications
  • Petrochemical
  • Chemical
  • Food and beverage
  • Pulp and Paper
  • Mining
  • Steel
  • Shipbuilding
  • Power generation
  • Transportation
  • Oil and gas
  • Aerospace
  • Railcar
  • Compressor gaskets
  • Pipe flange gaskets in both ring and full-face style (150#, 300# and 600#)
  • Manway gaskets
  • Gaskets for pumps and valves
  • Small engine gaskets
  • Diesel engine and transmission gaskets
  • Heat-exchanger gaskets
  • And the list goes on and on……

Atlantic Gasket is a leader in die-cutting and waterjet cutting of high-temperature and high-performance gasket materials and is proud to offer our customers gaskets and seals cut from the following materials:

Type of Thermoseal materials Properties Styles
Compressed Fiber Compressed fiber Thermoseal gasket materials are manufactured using synthetic fibers, Fiberglass and Aramid fibers, inorganic fibers and carbon fibers combined with either a Neoprene, EPDM, SBR, Hypalon or Nitrile binder system. These Thermoseal gasket materials can handle high pressures and extreme temperatures while sealing against a broad range of chemicals, fuels, oil, and acids and are an excellent gasket and sealing material for many industrial applications. Chemically resistant and high-performance compressed fiber Thermoseal gasket materials are also available for specific, more demanding applications and unique industrial needs. General Applications:
  • C-4201
  • C-4324
  • C-4300
  • C-4401
  • C-4430
  • C-4433
  • C-6327

PTFE (Teflon) PTFE Thermoseal gasket materials available from Atlantic Gasket are FDA-compliant and therefore suitable for use in the food processing and pharmaceutical industries. Thermoseal gasket materials made with PTFE also offer excellent creep resistance, helping to reduce maintenance and replacement costs by extending service intervals. Heavy Duty Grades:
  • Top-Chem 2000
  • Top-Chem 2003
  • Top-Chem 2005
  • Top-Chem 2006

Expanded PTFE:
  • Soft-Chem
  • Sealex Joint Sealant

Flexible Graphite Thermoseal’s flexible graphite gasket materials are the optimal choice for applications that involve extreme temperature variations and high thermal conductivity. They are highly resistant to numerous materials, including hot wax, solvents, oils, and both organic and inorganic acids and bases. The anti-stick coating of this material makes gasket removal easier and keeps flanges cleaner, thus reducing maintenance costs affiliated with the cleaning of flanges.
